Get To Know
Corey T. Denevan
"Dedicated to Achieving Justice for Our Clients."
Corey was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. However, he began his professional career on the West Coast in Seattle, Washington. He was an assistant vice president and trust officer with one of the nation’s largest financial institutions. Corey transitioned to the practice of law at Hertog & Coster, PLLC where he focused on estate planning, probate administration and the representation of non-professional fiduciaries and professional fiduciaries, such as banks, trust companies and guardianship agencies. Corey joined Aiken, St. Louis & Siljeg, P.S. as a shareholder, where he continued to manage complex trust, estate and guardianship matters, but also expanded his practice into business planning and succession, real estate transactions, creditor rights and commercial litigation. Corey also served as a court-appointed trustee and personal representative in complex and contentious cases.

Shannon R. Falon
"Navigating the Legal System with Confidence."
Shannon is a native South Dakotan who attended college at South Dakota State University and law school at the University of South Dakota. She graduated at the top of her class and was awarded the prestigious gavel award by vote of the law school faculty. She was also a member of the Sterling Honor Society. After graduating first in her law school class, Shannon had the distinct honor of clerking for the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota. She clerked for Chief Judge Lawrence Piersol for two years prior to joining the Johnson Janklow Abdallah, LLP, law firm. She became a partner in the firm in 2009. Shannon practices in all areas of civil litigation including civil rights, constitutional law, employment law – employee, insurance law, personal injury – plaintiff, professional malpractice law and sexual harassment.

Meghann M. Joyce
"Achieving Success through Diligence and Perseverance."
Meghann grew up in Rock Rapids, Iowa, and attended the University of South Dakota for her undergraduate studies and law school, graduating from both programs with high honors. Following law school, and before entering private practice, Meghann worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Glen A. Severson of the Supreme Court of South Dakota. As a law clerk, she reviewed hundreds of briefs, heard dozens of oral arguments, and assisted the Court in preparing for oral arguments and researching and writing decision.

Meghann has worked in private practice in Sioux Falls for twelve years. In that time, she has handled a wide variety of commercial litigation matters, including trusts and estates litigation, business disputes, construction and design litigation, insurance bad faith litigation, and professional liability. Her work touches many prominent industries in South Dakota, including banking, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, and transportation. Meghann has appeared in both federal and state courts in South Dakota and handled numerous appeals to both the South Dakota Supreme Court and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Erin N. Ballard
Erin brings a unique perspective to civil and trust litigation, shaped by her background in journalism. After growing up in Tampa, Florida, Erin earned an English degree with an emphasis in professional writing and rhetoric from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Before pursuing a legal career, she worked as a journalist at the Aberdeen American News, developing strong investigative and communication skills.

Erin attended law school at the University of South Dakota, where she demonstrated exceptional advocacy skills from the start, winning Best Advocate in the 1L Alternative Dispute Resolution Client Counsel competition. She continued to excel as a member of the Moot Court Board, showcasing her advocacy skills across four national competitions and achieving remarkable success.

Her achievements include second place on a two-person team at the National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Tournament in San Diego, and advancing to the semi-finals at the Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Competition in New Orleans, where her team earned second place for Best Oral Advocacy and she ranked among the top ten individual advocates. Her dedication to advocacy and service while on the Moot Court Board was recognized with the Order of Barristers Award upon graduation in 2023.
